November 4th, 2008 was a historic day in American politics.

For the first time ever in the United States of America, more citizens turned out to vote than any other election in our history. I for one have never been more enthusiastic about an election and I've been voting for the last 39 years.

The next 4 years are going to be about the issues. Next to jobs, one of the biggest issues is going to be health care. And, constituents are demanding results from their elected officials. That's where you come in. If you expect results, you're going to have to keep the pressure up on your legislators until you get what you want. We're here to coordinate your objectives on the issue of health care.

If you have lost your health care, can't afford health care or have been denied health care.

    The Heath Care Benchmark.

When considering the scope of health care the federal government intends to make accessible to the constituents they represent, it might reflect the type of health care provided to Senators and Congressmen. After all, Senatorial and Congressional health care programs are paid for by the constituent. The type of coverage provided to the constituents probably should, to some degree, represent the type of health care provided to Senators, Congressmen and staff. If health Savings accounts are such a great deal for constituents, maybe members of the Senate and Congress should give up their health plans for Health Savings Accounts. It would no doubt save taxpayers millions of dollars. It would also put Senatorial and Congressional leaders more in touch with the frustrations that constituents have to deal with on a daily basis.

Clearly the for profit health care insurers are out of touch with reality. The only possible scenario that allows executives to receive those multi million dollar salaries and golden parachutes is to deny claims.

We've all heard the adage "What do you mean I'm out of money, I still have check's". It's quite apparent that the Federal Government in this country can't manage money. They have plenty of checks, just no money to cover them. With the cost of the Iraq war about to top $1 trillion (that's TRILLION, not $billion), the Federal Government could have provided health care or at least some kind of aid to Americans without health care to millions of the uninsured.

Congressional Pay Raises How and when they get executed. This Is a PDF file. You'll need Adobe Reader in order to read it.

The cost of the Iraq War is expected to top $1.5 Trillion  This New York Times article gives new perspective.
Says Senator Hillary Clinton . . .“That is enough to provide health care for all 47 million uninsured Americans and quality pre-kindergarten for every American child, solve the housing crisis once and for all, make college affordable for every American student and provide tax relief to tens of millions of middle-class families.”

OK people, it's your turn. Tell us about your health care coverage
experiences. There are a lot of folks just like you.

In the months and years to come, you, the citizen will be able to post comments and experiences with other area and national citizens about your health care experiences. We want it all . . . the good, the bad and the ugly. If you're not happy with what your representatives are doing, now is the time to speak up and this is the place.
