We just LOVE our Italian.
I like to add a little extra oregano to my spaghetti sauce. It makes the Italian taste more Italian. Chop it fine then sift it through a medium mesh strainer. |
Spaghetti Sauce . . . Making it on your own.1 lb. Lean Ground Beef 3/4 cup Chopped Onions 1 - cup Water 2 - tablespoons Olive Oil 2 - 6 oz. cans Tomato Paste 1 - 28 oz. can Diced Tomatoes 2 - cloves Minced Garlic 1 1/2 - teaspoon Sugar (Takes some of the acid out of the tomatoes.) 1 1/2 - teaspoon Salt 1/2 - teaspoon Pepper (Be sure not to over do.) 2 teaspoons dried Oregano (Chopped fine)
Directions 1. Brown one pound of hamburger (90/10 is best to keep the fat content down) in large pot. Drain off excess fat before adding more ingredients. 2. Put onions and garlic into a separate pan with a tablespoon of butter and brown slightly on low to medium heat. Be sure not to over heat the butter. 3. Add additional ingredients while stirring on medium low heat.
4. Simmer for approximately 30
minutes on low and it's ready to serve. | |||||
