Union Pacific Railroad is the owner and operator of the worlds largest steam locomotive. . . Challenger 3985. In addition to 3985 it also owns and operates #844. Every now and then they turn 844 and 3985 loose on the rails of the Union Pacific system. 844 has just completed a 4 year over haul which included the complete rebuilding of the fire box and boiler system. This is the best operational condition 844 has been in since she was built in 1944. This is one of those rare opportunities to see an operating piece of railroad history.
